From Saturday, 1 August 2026, one small change at the Port of Koper Container Terminal can make a big difference to your turnaround time: a new truck entry/exit gate becomes operational.
Why it matters: Koper is a key North Adriatic gateway for Asia→CEE flows. When a terminal tweaks traffic rules, the impact is felt immediately in missed slots, waiting time, and delivery appointments across Slovenia, Austria, Hungary, Slovakia, Czechia and beyond.
Here’s what is changing (and what is NOT):
1) Entry remains the same
FCL trucks carrying containers will still enter via Gate G3 Bertoki. No new approach route for inbound.
2) Exit is the change
All drivers must register their departure at the new truck exit gate. Do not use any other exit routes when leaving CT. This is the one that will trip up even experienced drivers in the first weeks.
VGM weighing: plan ahead
On-site VGM weighing will no longer be available at the new gate. Weighing will be performed within 24 hours after the weighing service is ordered. The fee stays unchanged when properly pre-ordered.
Practical do’s & don’ts we’re sharing with our partners:
- Do brief dispatchers and drivers before the first August runs.
- Do pre-order weighing if your shipper relies on terminal weighing for SOLAS/VGM.
- Don’t assume “I’ll weigh at the gate like last time” — that’s the fastest route to delays.
When should shippers care?
If you’re moving India→Koper or China→CEE via Koper/Rijeka, the last mile to/from CT is where schedules are won or lost. This is especially relevant for tight rail connections, cross-dock plans, or bonded warehousing moves where timing and document accuracy matter.
At Europacific, we’re aligning our drayage instructions, VGM ordering process, and warehouse/terminal handoffs with this new setup so our carrier partners can keep turns predictable.
