Talent, heavy lifts, and digital wins: what we’re watching this week

18 August 2026

Three posts caught our eye this week—and together they say a lot about where forwarding is heading.

1) Hiring is back on the agenda. When we see teams in the UAE adding Operations and Sea Freight Pricing talent, it’s a reminder: capacity isn’t only vessels and trucks, it’s people who can solve exceptions fast. On our India→Koper and China→CEE corridors, the difference between “on schedule” and “stuck” is often one good operator who knows how to reroute, rebook, and communicate before the problem becomes visible to the customer.

2) Execution still wins. The Malaysia heavy-rail move shared this week is a great example of why multimodal craftsmanship matters—permits, sequencing, lifting plans, and time windows. We see a similar dynamic when cargo hits North Adriatic gateways: Koper (and Rijeka) reward forwarders who plan the inland leg as seriously as the ocean leg. The port call is only one milestone; the real KPI is reliable delivery into CEE (Austria, Hungary, Slovakia, Czechia, Slovenia, Croatia, Serbia and beyond) with predictable handovers.

3) Quiet transformation beats loud promises. The “logistics reimagined” anniversary post resonated with us because the change we all need is practical: fewer spreadsheets, faster quoting, cleaner data. Digital tools help, but only if they shorten decision cycles—especially for sea-freight pricing where rate volatility and space constraints can shift within hours. On China→CEE, speed-to-quote and accuracy on cut-offs/capacity are competitive advantages, not admin tasks.

Our takeaway: the winners in 2026 will be the forwarders who combine strong teams, operational discipline, and sensible digitisation—then apply it to resilient corridors like India→Koper and the North Adriatic route into CEE.

If you’re a carrier, NVOCC, or inland partner working these lanes—or a shipper looking to de-risk lead times—let’s connect and compare notes. We’re always open to partnerships that improve reliability, not just rates.
